The Temple of Words: An Anthology of Modern Korean Buddhist Poetry is a collection of one hundred and thirty-two Buddhist poems by fifteen poets, including Seon monks. This volume, which is composed of highly praised poetry in modern Korean literature, offers an opportunity to appreciate the aesthetic world of Buddhism that is embedded in sentiments of the modern intellectuals. The majority of the poems (120 pieces) in this book are written by monastics, monks and nuns. The list of the monks and the number of their poems included in this collection are as follows: Gyeongheo 鏡虛 9 poems, Yongseong 龍城 6 poems, Hanyeong 漢永 14 poems, Guha 九河 1 poem, Man’gong 滿空 8 poems, Hanam 漢岩 5 poems, Manhae 萬海 48 poems, Hyobong 曉峰 3 poems, Gyeongbong 鏡峰 11 poems, and Iryeop 一葉 14 poems. George McKinnon Wrong (1860-1948) was a Canadian author and historian. His works include: Review of Historical Publication (with H. H. Langton) (22 Volumes, 1897-1919), The Earle of Elgin (1905) and A Canadian Manor and its Seigneur (1908). Sir John Stephen Willison (1856-1927) was a British author, journalist, imperialist, historian and editor. He was an editor for the Liberal Globe in Toronto from 1890 until 1902 and The Independent, then Conservative News from 1903 until 1917. Zebulon Aiton Lash (1846-1920) was a Canadian author, businessman and civil servant. In 1872 he was appointed lecturer at Osgoode Hall Law School. From 1876 until 1882 he was a chief clerk in the federal Department of Justice. Sir Robert Alexander Falconer (1867-1943) was a Canadian academic and bible scholar. He was ordained in 1892 but never held a clerical position. He also began to publish articles in learned journals. In 1907 he became president of the University of Toronto.

This book grew out of a series of talk by six well known editors-H.Y. Sharada Prasad, Rukun Advani, David Davidar, Ravi Dayal, Urvashi Butalia, and samuel Israel-on the various processes involved in the publishing of books.
