Insbesondere soll dabei auf die sozio-ökonomische Situation der Charaktere, deren soziale Beziehungen untereinander, den ''Working Class Pride and Traditionalism'', die männliche Identifikation der Figuren und ihre regionale Verwurzelung eingegangen werden. Die zentralen Fragen, die sich dahingehend stellen, sind: Wie werden diese Aspekte in den Filmen dargestellt? Und inwiefern werden sie stereotypisiert dargestellt? Diese Arbeit beruht auf der Annahme, dass die meisten Stereotype auf das traditionelle Bild der ''working class'' des beginnenden 20. Jahrhunderts zurückgreifen. Aus diesem Grund wird diese Ära und ihr Einfluss auf das Leben der Arbeiter näher betrachtet, um dann Rückschlüsse auf die Repräsentation der Arbeiterklasse in ''Brassed Off'' und ''The Full Monty'' ziehen zu können. This essay, which is going to analyse the representation of class in ''Brassed Off'' and ''The Full Monty'', will particularly focus on the typicality of the representations. It will analyse the characters'' socio-economic situation, their social bonds, the ''working class pride and traditionalism'', the workers'' male identity and their regional identity. The central question will be, in which ways the films can be seen as "typical" working class motion pictures. In this respect, the stereotyping of the social classes in these two films will particularly be focused on. This essay is based on the assumption that most stereotypes refer back to the traditional image of the working class as it existed at the beginning of the 20th century. In this context, it shall be analysed if the makers of ''Brassed Off'' and ''The Full Monty'' also used such stereotypes to produce an image of "the good old working class". In order to gain an understanding of these working class stereotypes, the first chapter of this paper will deal with the "old" working class as it existed at the turn of the 20th century and its main characteristics.

Rok 1950 určitě nemůžeme označit za nejradostnější. Vrcholí politické procesy, studená válka je v plném proudu. Většina zboží je ještě na příděl a kontakty se světem slábnou. Přesto jsou i šťastné chvíle. Třeba tam, kde do rodiny přibyl nový člen nebo členka... Podívejme se tedy, do jakého světa otevřeli oči. Sochař Švec pracuje na monumentální soše J. V. Stalina, ale předseda vlády Antonín Zápotocký ještě klade věnec ke hrobu TGM v Lánech a na Velehradě promlouvá k „věřícímu československému lidu“. Hon na špiony propuká na obou stranách železné opony a v Koreji začíná válka. V létě je popravena Milada Horáková, i když o milost pro ni žádá třeba i Albert Einstein, a z vývěsních štítů pomalu mizí jména soukromých firem. Lidé si začínají zvykat na názvy jako Pramen, Vitana či Kovomat. Přesto i v takto dramatických časech lidé chodí do kina a na rande, hrají fotbal, vaří, navštěvují kavárny i hospody a sní si své malé i velké sny. Zkrátka – žijí své běžné životy. Zoologická zahrada v Praze otevírá nový pavilon opic, nad Arkansasem prolétne UFO a začínají se znovu vyrábět dalamánky. Zavzpomínejte tedy s námi na jeden z temnějších roků dvacátého století, na rok, kdy je v USA uveden na trh první dálkový ovladač televize, rok, kdy je poprvé zdolána Annapurna a kdy senátora zvoleného za Demokratickou stranu Pobřeží slonoviny snědí jeho voliči...

Některé věci jako by existovaly mimo čas. Zůstávají stejné navzdory dějinám, válkám, totalitním režimům i u001bpočasí. Takový je i u001bhotelu001b– vlastně spíš hodinový hotýleku001b – pana Leopolda, založený v u001bdobách první republiky a u001bnabízející párům potěšení a u001brozkoš za u001bprotektorátu, a u001bdokonce i u001bpoté, co ho znárodnili komunisté. Oč u001bvíce přímočaré lásky ale nabízely hotelové pokoje, ou001b tou001b osudovější a u001bdramatičtější vztahy se odehrávaly v u001brodině majitele a u001bposléze správce. Po velmi úspěšném románu Slepá mapa, popisujícím dramatické životní osudy tří generací žen, se vu001c nové knize autorka věnuje především mužskému hrdinovi: Leopoldovu vnukovi Václavu Mánesovi, který převzal vedení hotýlku v u001cšedesátých letech. Václav jeu001c muž bez jasných názorů i u001ccharakteru, což u001cmu umožňuje obratně proplouvat komunistickým režimem a u001cdržet rodinný podnik stále pohromadě. To má však zničující vliv na vztahy v u001crodině i u001cživoty lidí, kteří se ocitnou v u001cjeho blízkosti. Ve svém novém románu Mornštajnová potvrzuje, že je rozenou vypravěčkou, která dokáže čtenáře strhnout.

After almost 400 years, the well-known long-lost painting Leda and the Swan by the Rudophine master Joseph Heintz has resurfaced. It is an artwork, which was most respected by Heintz''s contemporaries and was considered lost for good. Three preparatory drawings for this painting are known, one of them owned by the National Gallery in Prague. Joseph Heintz the Elder (1564, Basel - 1609, Prague) was a prominent artist and court painter of Emperor Rudolph II in Prague but he also made a name for himself in Augsburg, Germany. When his peak artwork Leda and the Swan was re-discovered, three art institutions - the Kunstsammlungen und Museen Augsburg, the National Gallery in Prague and the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, Austria - have agreed to organize separate small exhibitions, respectively, on the theme of this painting. One was held in the spring in Augsburg, where Heintz had worked as a painter, inventor of prints and also architect. Another exhibition will be held in 2016 in Vienna, where a large part of Rudolph II''s imperial collections have survived. We prepare our exhibition in the autumn in Prague, where Heintz worked in the imperial services. The small exhibition in Prague will present Joseph Heintz the Elder as an artist through his selected artworks. The National Gallery in Prague will display his well-known painting Leda and the Swan (it will be loaned from a collection abroad) with its preparatory drawing as well as other paintings, drawings and graphic sheets. We will also offer more stories linked with the painting''s theme, the classical myth about Leda, the beautiful queen of Sparta, and her encounter with Jupiter, the highest god on Mount Olympus.
